“Super Mama Syndrome”

Do you ever have those days where you plan to get it all done ~~ only to discover that you can’t even cross off the first item on your to-do list?

I certainly do!  I map out a grand list of things I aim to accomplish for the day.  I even try to estimate how much time each activity will take so that I can swiftly move onto the next item on the list.  The night before (yes, I plan the night before), I’m aligning those things which I esteem to be necessary to either re-prioritize or clustered so that I can sail through my task-filled day.  Yes, that’s me ~~ good intentions.

But sometimes ~~ those intentions are seemingly derailed.  Sometimes God, in His infinite Wisdom, has other plans for my day.  The problem is that I don’t always recognize God’s Hand on the pause button.  Too often I have attempted to plow through a project and force my intentions; only to experience frustration.

“Anyone else out there know what I’m talking about?”

I attempt to fulfill the Super Human job description; only, that’s not my job ~~ it’s not my role ~~ that’s not my place.

Romans 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit

Trusting God with “my day” is not a weak gesture.  I used to think God wanted me to “bust through gates” to get everything done ~~ because that would be the mark of a productive Christian woman.

Not.

When I (slowly) came to realize that being filled with the power of The Holy Spirit did not translate into being expected to accomplish a million human things in a single day ~~ my expectations for myself also changed.

I stopped beating myself up mentally for not having checked off all my projects.

I stopped looking at “my priorities” and started asking God for His Priorities (for my life).

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things which He has called me to do through Him who strengthens and empowers me to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.

Look again at the Amplified translation above ~~ notice the first part of the Scripture passage:

I can do all things which He has called me to do …

I must first align myself with what God has called me to do ~~ and He will indeed give me the strength and power to fulfill His purpose.

While I’ll be the first to admit that I’m still “practicing” this behavior, it certainly has taken a tremendous load of frustration off of my shoulders.  I honestly don’t think I’ll ever have it down “perfectly” on this side of Glory, but I will keep abiding in the promise that God would not call me to “frustration.”  And if I experience that, it’s my own doing.  The previous passage in Romans clearly says God will fill me with joy and peace because I trust in Him.

So allow me to encourage you, Girlfriend ~~ take off the “cape” and relax into the wings of The Almighty.

I love you to Heaven and Back ~~

I'm a GOD Girl that desires to fulfill the Purpose that He has breathed into her heart: to bring up the ones coming up behind her. Titus 2 encourages women like me to reach out beyond our comfort zones and become transparent and vulnerable for the sake of those who want more of GOD and to walk closer with Him. A perfect past is not mine to speak of -- I don't even know what that is -- but I DO know the One Who holds my future, and He has redeemed me from the hurts of yesterday to give me a hope for tomorrow.
