Isn’t it great to wake up to beautiful surroundings and a song in your heart? Let’s face it, life is so filled with unexpected twists and turns along the journey, that it’s refreshing to not have to stress over (too much in) your day.
See this photo? It initially caught my eye because of the grandeur that I saw in the distance. It was the forefront that I recognized second ~~ the winding road.
I recently took one of those left-brain versus right-brain tests ~~ you know, the dominance evaluation ~~ to understand which side of my brain I tend to use the most. And of course, if you know me, you’ll automatically know that I took the test twice ~~ just to validate my results.
My results? I was somewhat surprised ~~ but even in my unexpected outcome I had to chuckle at myself because my reaction only validated my results. Yes, to my surprise, I am very left-brain dominant. In fact, at the end of the evaluation was a recommendation to balance out the strength of my right-brain by taking up a “creative hobby.”
The test results indicated that I prefer logic, rational, analytical, systematic things and situations. Never in a million years would I have described myself using those words. The results also indicate that I could enhance my right-brain activity by practicing being more random, imaginative, adventuresome, and intuitive. And here I thought those were patches already sewn into my persona.
The unexpected results caused me to ponder the journey that God has put me on ~~ for the road does have many unexpected and surprising turns ~~ some turns I probably never would’ve taken had I “authored” the plan.
And if I’m brutally honest, there are times I feel as though the journey has beckoned the wrong traveler ~~ “God, You sure You want ME to do this?” No disrespect intended, God makes no mistakes ~~ but there are times I’ve declared my “hearing impairment” has caused me to misstep onto something meant for someone else.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
I learned through taking that brain test that part of my preferences is to favor predicability ~~ that’s a “control” issue. Ah! That’s why my right-brain isn’t as strong ~~ I don’t like to “freely let go.” Ah-ha!
Traveling along God’s Journey does have its moments of unpredictability ~~ those unforeseen twists and turns along the way. But God says He will show me which path to take. And if He’s showing me the path, it’s not an error ~~ that’s the road I should be on. It might feel awkward ~~ the gravel beneath my feet ~~ the uneven surface ~~ it’s not what I would desire or expect. But it is the right road. If I get distracted I can easily trip and fall into a pothole or fall flat on my face over a speedbump. But the Journey rarely ends there. Because God is faithful.
I call you out, Girlfriend ~~ lace up your shoes and walk with The Savior ~~ the Journey will bless you with the opportunity to grow closer to Him and grow more into the woman you were designed to become.
I love you to Heaven and Back ~~
