“Legacy”

Psalm 78:5-7 For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born— and they in turn will teach their own children. So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.

When I look into the sweetest face on the planet ~~ my heart absolutely melts!  I thank my God for her daily. And as she grabs hold of her Lōlie so tightly, I am reminded of this Scripture verse. How can I not teach my baby girl about the love of her God?

Life is busy ~~ filled with enough activity to make your head spin if you took the time to think about it! From the moment we are “consciously aware”‘that we have to make decisions and act upon them (I call that entering adulthood) ~~ and are fully accountable for them (that’s reality) ~~ we are engaged in a whirlwind of activity.  It’s too bad that we miss out on so much of the truly substantial aspects of life ~~ because we are so busy “living.”

It’s too easy to get caught up in “creating the perfect image.”  That’s typical of our late 20’s, and throughout our 30’s and 40’s. We erroneously think that there is that “perfect profile” (if I may use a social media reference) ~~ and to keep it up, we update our “status” regularly (just in case someone is looking).  But when we stop to reflect (sometimes it takes a good friend to help us come to a grinding halt) on all this busyness ~~ we’ve spent a HUGE amount of our life trying to make an impression.  An impression that no one really cares about. An impression that really doesn’t matter.

After 25 years of “making an invisible impression,” we suddenly come to our senses. By this time, we’ve entered what the world calls “middle age” ( I call it halfway to Heaven).  And it hits us on the head like a rock!

How much of this precious and irreconcilable time have we invested into declaring to our next generation the wonderous works of God?  Can they claim that they have heard personal accounts from us ~~ of His countless moments of blessing us, rescuing us, healing us, Leading and guiding us ~~ can our own children actually say that they know God is the center of our lives?

Do they see evidence of God in us?

I may not leave an enormous wealth of material goods or a millionaire’s bank account for my grandchildren. But I do want to leave them a legacy of my Savior.

When it’s all said and done ~~ and the day comes for them to lay my body to rest ~~ I want for my children and grandchildren to be able to claim without a doubt, that they know and embrace the God that loves and created them. And to depend upon Him for their every need.

As we look interest the eyes of our children, Girlfriend, I pray that we will see not only our own eyes, but the eyes of God and His Love.

So that the generations not yet born will set their hope anew upon Him!

I love you to Heaven and Back ~~

I'm a GOD Girl that desires to fulfill the Purpose that He has breathed into her heart: to bring up the ones coming up behind her. Titus 2 encourages women like me to reach out beyond our comfort zones and become transparent and vulnerable for the sake of those who want more of GOD and to walk closer with Him. A perfect past is not mine to speak of -- I don't even know what that is -- but I DO know the One Who holds my future, and He has redeemed me from the hurts of yesterday to give me a hope for tomorrow.
